China's Customs Statistics revealed that the country imported 275 million tons (Mt) of iron ore in 2005, an increase of 61.71 Mt (32.3 percent) over the levels in the previous year. Iron ore imports into the country have been accelerated year after year, far from reducing growth rates. The net increase from the 2004 results is equivalent to total yearly imports into South Korea and Taiwan, which confirms anew the fact that demand is on the swift rise at users in the country.
