Sales Of Ferro-Nickel By Japan In First Half 2005 Increased Exports But Decreased Domestic Sales

The quantities of ferro-nickel produced in Japan and sold by Japan in the first half ( January - June ) of 2005 had increased its exports but decreased its domestic sales. The exports of ferro-nickel from Japan to South Korea, Taiwan and China in the first half of 2005 had a favorable tone and shipped 11,490 tons of nickel in ferro-nickel as a considerable increase of 22.6 percent compared with that in the same period of 2004. On the other hand, 25,100 tons of nickel in ferro-nickel were sold in domestic market of Japan in the first half of 2005, having decreased by 6.6 percent compared to that in the same period of 2004. This decline of the domestic sales was influenced by cutback on production of nickel-based stainless steel in Japan.
