Mitsubishi To Acquire Kintyre Uranium Project In Western Australia

One of Japanese leading sogoshosha, Mitsubishi Corporation announced July 10 that its wholly-owned Australian Sydney-based subsidiary Mitsubishi Development Pty Ltd ("MDP") has signed an agreement with Rio Tinto to acquire a 30 percent interest in the Kintyre Uranium Project ("Kintyre") in Western Australia. Under the agreement, MDP in a joint venture with Canadian leading uranium and processing services company ("Cameco") will purchase Kintyre from Rio Tinto for 495 million US dollars. The joint venture will be owned 30 percent by MDP and 70 percent by Cameco, which will be the operator of the project.
