BHP Billiton released on the 23rd of April their production activities of manganese ore, manganese ferro-alloys and nickel in the first quarter ( January - March ) of 2008 as per the table shown below. Namely, the quantities produced by BHP Billiton in January - March quarter of 2008 were <> manganese ore : 1,666,000 tons ( on material base ) as increased from that in the same quarter of 2007, <> manganese ferro-alloys : 192,000 tons ( on material base ) as decreased from that in the same quarter of 2007 and <> nickel ( nickel metal and ferro-nickel ) : 43,000 tons ( on nickel content base ) as decreased from that in the same quarter of 2007.
