According to the statistics released by the Ministry of Finance, the exports of stainless steel scrap from Japan in June of 2008 broken down by shipping ports were as per the tables (1) and (2) attached hereto. Namely, Japan exported 21,008 tons of stainless steel scrap in June of 2008, which had a substantial decrease of 24.9 percent compared with that ( 27,981 tons ) in the previous month of May and also continued to decrease for the successive 2 months after the largest quantity ( 40,527 tons ) in its history was exported in April of this year. This decline on exports of stainless steel scrap from Japan in June was due to a considerable decrease of exports for South Korea, following that in the previous month of May.
