Buying finished corrugated boxes nowadays should be easy and straightforward, right? Wrong. Who you buy from often determines price and service levels. Do you want a long-term relationship and first class service? Go with a corrugator or sheet plant. Do you want a one-stop shop? A distributor could very well answer all your needs and get you a great deal on toilet paper too. And then there are the pure brokers that sell stock brown boxes dirt-cheap. According to the Fibre Box Association, there are approximately 1,259 corrugator and sheet plants in the U.S. No one tracks distributor numbers but they are in the hundreds. And brokers? Impossible to say.
