Total containerboard inventories (mills and box plants combined) rose 1.9 percent between last July and August, reports the American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA). Specifically, they went from 2,308,500 tons at the end of July to 2,352,900 tons at the end of August. It is yet another sign that box business is slowing, thanks to a weak U.S. economy that is clearly in a recession.
