Box Shipments Nosedive Again

Last month, shipments of corrugated products sank 9.6 percent on both an actual and an average week basis, reports the Fibre Box Association (FBA). Both last month and August 2008 had 21 shipping days. A review of the year to date numbers shows that the first eight months of this year have been a slog for box makers from coast to coast. On an actual basis, shipments were down 10.4 percent while on an average week basis they dropped 9.3 percent. The first eight months of 2008 had 170 shipping days while the first eight months of this year had 168 shipping days. See chart on this page for all the numbers.
