Financing in a Difficult Market

The current lending environment is a difficult one for businesses, says Kevin Hartney, senior vice president of sales for People's Capital and Leasing, Waterbury, Conn. Hartney spoke at the TAPPI Corrugated Packaging Division Conference and CorrExpo, held last week in Chicago. There are fewer lenders with higher rates as defaults and delinquencies are on the rise. There are stricter credit standards for businesses as well. Particularly worrisome for the corrugated container industry is that asset (equipment) values have declined.
