Knowledge Societies and the New Role of Technologists in Integrated Rural Development

We have entered the new millennium where new developments in science and technologies are taking place now at a speed, which is several times more than we have witnessed in the past. At the same time, the application of the new knowledge to address some of the basic problems of our society like poverty, inequality and quality of life is greater than any time before. Under this situation, the technologists will have to play a new and extremely important role.
