摘要

Unstable precursors, such as ground subsidence and thrust, occurred on the lower slope of the Chiu-fen-erh-shan landslide in November, 2002. This study presents the results of applying Discontinuous Deformation Analysis (DDA), which is a dynamic discrete numerical analysis method, to evaluate the post-failure behavior of the unstable lower slope involving different geometries. The simulation results show that the depression near the toe of the slope provides a space to trap the sliding rocks when the failure is occurred at the unstable lower slope. The success of this study will demonstrate DDA as a very useful tool to slope engineering and disaster prevention.
