Yunnan Provincial Economy Commission announced on January 14 that Yunnan will stop approval on any new yellow phosphorus project from that day on and will do clear-up for projects under construction so as to exploit and utilize effectively phosphorus mineral resources in Yunnan and stops firmly the repeated construction on a lower level and blind development.In 2003,there were 33 phosphorus producers with 117 phosphorus furnaces,designed capacity of 463 100 t/a,and output of 333 000 tons in the province.The production capacity and output took up 50% of the national total.In 2004,the new capacity addition of phosphorus reached over 0.22 million t/a.
