Steamy Optics: A System for Demonstrating Geometric and Physical Optics

Asimple apparatus consisting of a plastic box with transparent sides filled with fog from an ultrasonic humidifier is very effective for demonstrating the passage of light through optical elements. There are several other methods for making the light passing through an optical system visible, including an apparatus that generates fog using liquid nitrogen. Logiurato et al. have described a setup that employs a mist maker available from scientific supply companies to produce the fog.
