摘要

Babesiosis caused by Babesia bovis and B. bigemina, and anaplasmosis caused by Anaplasma marginale are haemoparasitic diseases of great importance in the cattle production systems of Central and South America (Alonso et al., 1992). The main vector of these diseases in the region is the one-host tick, Boophilus microplus, however anaplasmosis may also be bransmitted by other haematophagous arthropods such as tabanids (Callow, 1984, Nari, 1995) and by fomites.
