TWO HAIRLINE ENGRAVINGS IN THE DOME GORGE, DAUREB, NAMIBIA

Research into the prehistory of the Daureb has revealed a long archaeological sequence that covers the Middle Stone Age, Later Stone Age (LSA) (Breunig 2003), rock art (Scherz 1975, 1986; Pager 1989, 1993, 1995, 1998, 2000, 2006; Lenssen-Erz 2001) and evidence of pastoral nomads (Kinahan 1991). The rock art of the Daureb is one of the most extensively documented in the world. In this article we report on the first naturalistic hairline engravings to be discovered in central Namibia, found in the Dome Gorge.
