Many of the farmers and contractors who buy a new sprayer are looking for more output and manufacturers are responding by offering bigger tanks and wider booms. The upward trend in work capacity is most obvious on the top models in the trailed and self-propelled sectors of the sprayer market, but there is also a similar trend on some of the tractor mounted machines. Mounted sprayers have more limited tank capacities and boom widths, but with bigger tractors increasingly available, particularly on arable farms, sprayer manufacturers have been introducing new models that help to bridge the size gap between the traditional small mounted machines and the lower end of the trailed range.
