More About Tim McMillan 2011 a Great Year for Drilling in Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan posted its second-best year for drilling of oil wells and broke a record, only a year old, for drilling horizontal wells. Year-end statistics from the Ministry of Energy and Resources show that 3,528 oil wells were drilled in 2011. That represents a 29% increase over the figure for 2010 and is just shy of the record figure set in 1997. Last year's production was 157.8 million barrels, a figure exceeded only by the 161 million barrels produced in 2008 when, for a time, the price of oil exceeded $140 per barrel.
