In 2002, Gyrodata incorporated purchased Cambridge Drilling Automation Ltd., which had evolved from the entity (Cambridge Radiation Technology) that designed and developed the first rotary steerable drilling system in the late 1980's under the guidance of Mr. Peter Allen. Mr. Allen then helped bring the system of commerciality in the early 1990's with Cambridge Drilling Automation, and now, as Technical Director of Gyrodata Drilling Automation, he has introduced the third generation of rotary steerable systems-Gyrodata's Well-Guide RSS~(TM).
