Petroleum and Chemical Production Base in Liaoning

Liaoning is a juncture between the Northeast China Economic Zonc and the Bohai Ring Economic Zone and has evident advantages in geographical location and resources for the development of the oil-refining sector. Daqing oilfield, the biggest oil field in China, is to the north. Liaohe Oilfield, the third biggest oilfield in China, and Bohai offshore oilfields are in the province. Dalian Port aned Jinzhou Port, excellent natural ports connecting Asia and Europe, are to the south and the west. The oil-refining amount in Liaoning reached 40.48 million tons in 2002, accounting for 18.7% of the total oil-refining market volume in China and being the biggest share among all provinces.
