Kao Corp. subsidiary Kanebo Cosmetics offers updates on its recall of products containing Rhododenol in an Aug. 19 release. Kanebo announced the voluntary recall July 4 for more than 50 SKUs containing 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-butanol, which suppresses melanin production, and vowed to personally visit consumers who have reported the appearance of white blotches on their skin ("Kanebo Takes Action Post-Rhododenol Recall As 7,000 Report III Effects" - "The Rose Sheet" Jul. 29, 2013).
