Fair Trade US Proposes New Ingredients Policy; OCA Says Not Strict Enough

As part of a new "fair trade for all" initiative, Fair Trade USA, a nonprofit organization that evaluates and certifies fair-trade products in the U.S., pro-poses setting higher percentage standards for minimum fair-trade content in personal care and other "composite" products. Under the policy outline, composite products - those made up of multiple ingredients, such as personal-care products - would have to contain at least 25% fair-trade-certified ingredients to be able to sport the Fair Trade Certified seal on the front of product packaging.
