At its Dec. 13 meeting in Washington, D.C., the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel opted not to re-open review of methyldibromo glutaronitrile, a preservative used in hair-care and other cosmetic products, maintaining that the ingredient can be used safely at responsible levels, contrary to the position of its counterpart in the EU, which has banned the ingredient.
