CIR May Alter Approach To Ingredients Lacking Data For 'Stronger Statement'

Ingredients evaluated by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel that lack data supporting their safety would be reclassified under a procedural change suggested at the group's Aug. 31 meeting. If safety data compiled for an ingredient still do not support its use two years after the substance receives an "insufficient data" conclusion, the ingredient would be relegated to a new category: "Use not supported by the data submitted to CIR."
