A group of Alberto Culver shareholders have reached an agreement with the firm after claims were made that the best possible deal was not sought in the firm's acquisition by Unilever. As part of the settlement, Alberto Culver will eliminate matching rights granted to Unilever, lower the break-up fee the firm may have to pay and be prepared to promptly provide any superior bidder with the same confidential documents it supplied to Unilever.
