CIR Develops 'Boilerplate' To Fill Ingredient Usage 'Gaps'

The Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel has developed a "boilerplate" to add to the discussion section of ingredient reports when it is unclear exactly how the substances are used in products.The panel outlined the concept during its June 13-14 meeting.The boilerplate would be added in certain circumstances,such as when the panel determines a substance is "safe as used" but there are no reported uses for the ingredient,or when firms do not indicate at what concentration substances are used,CIR explained.
