New organisational structures are needed to move from a chain of health care,with knowledge at one end and patients at the other,to a distributed system,in which public invests in its own health,corporate strategist Charles Leadbetter said.He cited the open-source nature of the Linux computer operating system and the self-organised exchange that occurs between users of the auction website eBay as examples and argued that such easy to use tools and open-access platforms would allow certain types of health knowledge to be shared far more effectively than present systems.
