How clean is clean enough?

Most fabricated tubular assemblies need little in the way of cleaning. A rinse to remove lubricants used for forming or fines left over from deburring is often enough. However, some applications need a level of cleanness that almost defies belief. This is where electropolishing comes into play. Electropolishing is nothing new. It has been a commercially viable process for nearly 100 years and is useful for cosmetic, high-purity, and sanitary applications. Because the process uses an electrical current that passes through an acidic solution, rather than a mechanical tool, it's ideal for polishing large surfaces, irregular shapes, and hard-to-reach areas.
