The Aluminum Association, Arlington, Va., recently announced a new sustainability initiative promoting increased recycling, energy-efficient product applications, and increased operating efficiency. The effort will build on the aluminum industry's decades of work to operate in a sustainable manner for the good of the environment and customers, the Aluminum Association states. The sustainability initiative will include participation in the Curbside Value Partnership (CVP), which links the aluminum, paper, glass, plastic, and steel industries. The partnership works with select cities, counties, and states to increase curbside recycling participation and collections; reaches out to customer groups around the world through the Auto & Light Truck Group (ALTG), with information on how aluminum can help them reduce their environmental footprint; and works with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Voluntary Aluminum Industrial Partnership (VAIP).
