Technology & Services Inc. manufactures a compact system designed to meet American Petroleum Institute (API) requirements for weighing, measuring, and stenciling (WMS) oil country tubular goods (OCTG). The system, Compact WMS, performs real-time data acquisition to combine the three functions into a single unit. It can process up to five tubes per minute, fits onto a roll-down table, and uses less than 8 ft. of table space. It can accept pipe from conveyor systems or roll-down systems. A V-notch catches the incoming pipe, stabilizes it, and lines up the longitudinal axis. The length-measuring system then determines the pipe's length. This information is passed along to the system's computer, which retains the product data for further processing. If the length is out of range, it alerts the system operator.
