Sound like an exciting summer camp to you? For the kids attending manufacturing camps, it has been great fun. To the metal formers and fabricators of the FMA and TPA, it is a first but critical step in setting up a pipeline that addresses a looming industry problem. The general consensus within the industry is that it's facing a crisis in the shortage of a competent manufacturing work force. NAM has coined it a "skills gap," referring to the lack of students entering the work force with adequate math, science, and project management skills.
