A study by the Steel Service Center Institute (SSCI) of steel consumption in the U.S. and Canada indicates that a few large markets devour the lion's share of steel products, but some smaller markets, spurred on by the "New (electronic) Economy," are gobbling up increasing portions rapidly."What this research tells us is which markets service centers should be in," said Craig Schulz, vice president of marketing for the SSCI. "It tells our members what markets are growing and which ones are not-which should help them with their strategic marketing decisions. By extension, fabricators can use this same information to tell them where the new industries and new opportunities are."
