Captain Jotin Alexander was commissioned in August 2002 and attended No 134 RE Troop Commander's Course before being posted to 3 Armoured Engineer Squadron as an Armoured Troop Commander. He squeezed in an Exercise Iron Anvil in BATUS before deploying to Iraq on Operation Telic IV with 1 Mechanized Brigade. In April 2005, he found himself posted to 25 Engineer Regiment as the Training Officer, but covered the post of Operations Captain for the Marching Season over the summer of 2005. With the start of Operation Saddlery, the Security Normalisation process in Northern Ireland, he deployed to South Armagh as the Task Commander for the demolition of G10, a hilltop observation tower near Crossmaglen.
