India's Export Strategy for China (2003-2004)

Indian Industry and exporters can regard China not so much as a major threat to our manufacturing and industrial sector but also as an opportunity, as China is emerging as one of the largest importers globally. China's global imports have been growing rapidly and grew from US 132bn in 2002. The growth rate in 2002 alone was 21.2%. India has a minimal share in China's total imports but this share has increased from 0.60% in 2000 to 0.77% in 2002. China has set a target of quadrupling its 2000 GDP by 2020 and its foreign trade is likely to continue to grow significantly, offering considerable opportunities for Indian industry.
