Light microscopy documentation of complete vertebrate melanocytes and their possible association

摘要

Whole vertebrate melanocytes are rarely adequately portrayed in the literature. This paper attempts to remedy this dearth by use of anuran amphibian skin histological preparations that require no specialized mounting techniques, nor demanding enzymatic reactions. From their configuration and manner of arrangement, a mode of association for melanocytes is proposed that may constitute a system. Ways to confirm this possibility are suggested.
