Professor Balfour's Dissecting Microscope

The Archives at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh hold a simple dissecting stand which belonged to J H Balfour, Regius Keeper at the Garden 1845-1879. It is of unusual form and unsigned but considered to be a prototype for the 1856 model listed by the Parisian Opticians Nachet et Fils.
