MANGALORE LNG TERMINAL FEASIBILITY REPORT SOON

The feasibility report for the establishment of an LNG (liquefied natural gas) terminal in Mangalore is being finalised, according to Mr. Veerappa Moily, Union Petroleum Minister. The establishment of LNG terminal in Mangalore will help bring LNG from Mozambique, as Mangalore will be the nearest route for that country. The Oil Industry Safety Directorate had some objections on this. Following this, the team of the directorate visited Mangalore recently, he said. The LNG terminal will be set up with participation from the Japanese company Mitsui, and ONGC and BPCL, along with New Mangalore Port Trust. PUNS FOR MRPL: The Minister also informed that the polypropylene unit of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL) with a capacity to manufacture 440 kilo tonnes per annum would be commissioned by April. The investment in this project will be around Rs. 1,200-cr.
