Since the adoption of Local Agenda 21, all local councils are obliged to look at schemes and projects which show a sustainable approach to life and, most importantly, to listen to their residents' ideas. This opens up great opportunities for Soil Association members tu lobby councils to put organic issues onto their Councils come in a variety of types. The main ones arc, County, District, Unitary authorities (e.g. Metropolitan or City Councils which combine the responsibilities of the above), and Parish and Town Councils. The last two art probably the most important for action on a local level.
