Sales of welding consumable excluding flux cored arc welding wires (FCW) were found to have increased from year ago in May, reducing the decrease rate in the aggregate sales from January through May. A recent poll on the major local makers of wire rod products showed that the May sales of welding consumable excluding FCW totaled 13,900 tons, up 5.7 percentfrom a year ago. Of those sales, domestic sales stood at 6,500 tons, up 3.1 percent from a year earlier and exports also increased to 7,400 tons with a year-on-year rise of 8.1 percent, lifting the entire monthly sales. Compared with the previous month, the May sales climbed 3.3 percent thanks to robust demand.
