Korea's 7 shipyards were found to have hold 39.15 million compensated gross tons (CGT) of backorders as of the end of April, accounting for 35.4 percent of 110.53 million CGT in the entire global backlogs. The world's largest shipyard, Hyundai Heavy Industries, maintained its unshakable first place in the world with an order backlog of 11.44 million CGT, Clarkson, a London-based shipping market research institute, said.
