Samsung Economic Research Institute (SERI) forecast that Korea's economy would grow 4 percent in the second half of this year, lowering its earlier estimation by 0.5 percent point. However, the private think tank raised its initial estimation for the first half of the year, foreseeing Korea's economy would grow 5.7 percent in the first half of the year, thus maintaining the annual growth rate at 4.8 percent. As for the estimation of the annual consumption increase rate, it also made a downward adjustment by 0.6 percent point to 4.0 percent. It has revised its earlier estimation on the Korea's annual current account surplus, dragging down its earlier forecast of 3.2 billion U.S. dollars to 2.3 billion U.S. dollars.
