Successive Steel Import Tariff Cut or Exemption in Developing Countries

Due to worry about possible weakening of their own steel-consuming industry foundations. There is a series of steel import tariff cuts by major steel-importing countries all over the world with the aim to block a rise in their importation costs, while the international market prices for steel products are getting higher. Those countries that have recently decided or are pushing ahead to reduce their steel import duties include Brazil, Thailand, Egypt and Pakistan. Particularly, those developing countries, which should purchase a considerably large volume of steel products from abroad, are positively pushing on with the plans to decrease their import duties in fear of possible weakening of their steel-consuming industry foundations in the wake of a recent fast increase in the international market prices for steel products.
