The Research Institute of Industrial Science and Technology (RIST) said it has recently developed the online phase galva-annealed alloy degree and phase fraction measurement system together with the Cold Rolling Dept. of POSCOs Gwangyang Works which can measure and control the degree of alloying and the component ratio of alloy phase precisely on a real time basis. Demand for galva-annealed steel sheets (GA) is expected to increase drastically in the future due to their excellent properties in painting, corrosion-resistance and welding. The coated layer of GA is composed of iron-zinc phase and it is the core technology for manufacturing such high-quality steel sheets to precisely measure and control the component ratio of alloy phase on a real time basis.
