Forecast on a slow but steady recovery of the international market prices for zinc is being successively reported. Major leading zinc producers in the world began their full-scale restructuring from the beginning of this year to find a way out of the deterioration in profitability, Mirae Asset Securities Co. said April 8. As a result, the international market price of zinc was predicted to gradually rise, helped by the major makers self-control of supplies through the shutdown of smelters, suspension of mill operation and self-restraint of dumping sales. In addition, large-scale expansions of zinc coating facilities in Korea, China and Russia would greatly increase demand for zinc, starting in 2005 greatly according to the report.
