With the sluggish domestic sales that extended a downward trend for two consecutive months, sales of domestic special steel bars declined last month for the first time over the past six months. Sales to end-users that continued to jack up domestic market also decreased year-on-year in almost two years, indicating that business slowdown in the market has recently expanded up to the sales to end-users from those to distributors. The monthly sales by domestic special steel bar makers including Kia Steel, INI Steel and Changwon Specialty Steel in May were tallied to have reached 10,756 tons, down 10.6 percent from the same month of the previous year, marking the first drop since November 2002.
