Epirubicin improves results in early-stage breast cancer

The two independent, parallel phase III trials, including 2391 women from 75 treatment centres, were designed for joint analysis by the Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials Unit (Birmingham, UK). NEAT recruited participants mainly from the UK, and the BR96OI trial mainly from Scotland. The trials were combined because Scottish investigators did not have the population base to power adequately a stand-alone study.
