The nuclear medicine community is once again faced with a shortage of the workhorse medical isotope, Technetium-99m(Tc-99m). In the USA, 80% of imaging studies (about 16 million per year) are done with this radioisotope, and these shortages are becoming more frequent, less predictable, and lengthier.
