Gemcitabine combination in advanced NSCLC.

Docetaxel plus gemcitabine is more efficacious than docetaxel monotherapy in the first-line treatment of patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). "Platinum-based doublets are the standard treatment for chemotherapy-naive patients with NSCLC. Non-platinum based regimens are reasonable alternatives. Since there are no data on the efficacy of single-agent compared to non-platinum-based doublets, we performed this phase III trial", says author Vassilis Georgoulias (University of Heraklion, Crete, Greece).
