Telecommunications in skin cancer prevention and diagnosis

According to WHO, 2-3 million non-melanoma and 132000 melanoma skin cancers occur every year worldwide. Incidence of the most serious form of skin cancer, melanoma, is almost certainly linked to excessive recreational sun exposure, and is thus preventable: a message that many anti-cancer campaigns attempt to highlight. However, campaigns no longer rely on conventional approaches, such as media advertising or posters to put across this message, but are making use of newtelecommunication technology. Facebook is a relatively new social media platform favoured by individuals and campaigns alike. This platform is instantly recognisable worldwide and ubiquitous.
