The mineral collection of the Natural History Museum in Vienna

The Natural History Museum in Vienna is one of the famous buildings of Vienna's Ringstrasse-the most beautiful boulevard in the world. The museum was designed by the architects Gottfried Semper (1803-1879) and Carl Hasenauer (1833-1894) during the reign of Emperor Franz Josef I (1830-1916). Construction lasted for more than 10 years, and another 8 years were required for the installation of the exhibits. The official inauguration ceremony was held by Emperor Franz Joseph I in 1889. The museum has been dedicated to "the realm of nature and its investigation," so it is not only a place of exhibition but also an internationally renowned center of scientific research.
