The Arizona Silver Belt

For only about a decade in the late 19th century, small deposits in south-central Arizona produced rich silver ores, chiefly native silver and chlorargy rite, from near-surface supergene zones. Before the mines were abandoned around 1890 they also produced a small number of excellent specimens, mainly of native silver; today these specimens shine as rare artifacts of Arizona mining history.
